Moran Outdoor School is a Washington State Park program that takes place at Camp Moran Environmental Learning Center in Moran State Park. The park offers students 5000 acres of natural diversity, nine distinct plant communities, 350 acres of the finest remaining example of Puget trough old growth forest, five fresh-water lakes, and Mount Constitution at an elevation of 2408 feet. Orcasisle.com also provides a Moran State Park website.

Camp Moran is situated at the edge of Cascade Lake with a 100-year-old apple orchard where deer, rabbits, raccoons, hawks and owls have all been known to gather. Heated cabins, a common lodge, a firepit, and a private beach provide a place that any school can call home. A map of the camp is available. When outdoor school is not in session the site (as well as a smaller Vacation House) is available for rent. See OrcasIsle.COM's Camp Moran ELC web page, or contact the ELC ranger at (360)376-6173 to learn more.

How To Get There

Camp Moran is easily accessible from anywhere in the I-5 corridor. From Seattle it's only a two-hour bus ride to Anacortes followed by an hour and fifteen minute ferry ride amidst eagles, occasional orca whales, and the beautiful San Juan Islands. If desired, Moran Outdoor School staff can help you arrange for Orcas Island School District buses to pick you up at the ferry landing for the final stretch to Moran State Park. If you are leaving the Seattle area first thing in the morning, you will be in the midst of Camp Moran's program by afternoon.
